This Q magazine taught me how to make a special edition special; I learnt what stands out and what makes it different. This edition has helped me and guided me since I can see what I need to do to gain a large audience. Like in the NME magazine, there is a fluencey. Throughout, there is a block with a very obvious colour which is the same. The layout of this magazine helps guide me on how to make a suitable magazine myself and how to make my magazine stick out from the rest.

The NME magazine analysis taught me a lot about magazines in general.
The cover:
- When you look at the cover, you see the beckground picture and red, only red. There is consistency throughout this and so it has to be fluent with coherent and systematic with similar colours and a precise layout
- The masthead is partially hidden which shows that it has gained its significance and importance in the media industry so is easily recognisable so therefore, by covering it with the cover artsits head says that it wont affect sales figures.
Contents:
- I've leartn that I need to make the contents blinding and obvious as this edition has the header bold and capitalised. The layout is clear and so it shows that there are several important articles.
- the cover had a feature which is presented largely on the contents so there is a guidance which way to go. For my magazine to be successful, I need to consider this; the links between cover articles and contents features.
DPS:
- the double page spread is about the cover artists and so there is that link. the magazine is extremely successful so to make mine a successful magazine, I would have to consider things like this.

The publisher research helped me find out how widespread the production is and where the media is read; IPC distribute worldwide so I now know that there is a very wide audience. IPC don't publish just one genre of magazine; the publish many different magazines from entertainment and lifestyle to music and technology magazines. IPC only publish two music magazines (NME & Uncut). Since I found out a few statistics, it tells me that large publishing houses produce a large profit.

I done my Preliminary task on Microsoft Word because I've never used publisher and couldn't understand how to work it and preferred to use a program I was familiar with so that I could do a good job.
I think I done well on this first attempt at a magazine cover and contents as I had never done such a task. The cover of the magazine is appealing and it has helped me see a direction my music magazine will go because of how I will shape the background image and masthead. Although this attempt appears weak, since it is my first try, I think I done well.
The contents really is just a mock up. As you can see, it's lifeless and lacks volume and depth; theres no colour or any real content as it's just a guide of where I would lay out each piece if I were to go further with this magazine.
